CCNA NAT9: Verifying & Clearing NAT

Operate, observe, and clear Cisco IOS PAT translations on an internet edge. You will configure a standard PAT overload on R1, generate multiple concurrent sessions from an inside host, read translation/state counters, and clear single and all entries to see how the table repopulates immediately under live traffic.
Learning objectives
- Configure PAT (overload) on a Cisco IOS edge using a standard ACL and the WAN interface as the global address
- Interpret show ip nat translations and show ip nat statistics output under active traffic
- Deliberately clear a single NAT translation and the entire table, then confirm repopulation
- Differentiate NAT ACL intent (source selection) from policy ACLs and understand operation order
Troubleshooting focus
- If translations do not appear, confirm inside/outside marking on the correct interfaces and the default route toward the ISP
- If only some flows work, confirm the NAT ACL matches the inside source subnet (not the destination)
- If statistics show misses growing and hits low, ensure traffic is crossing from an inside to an outside interface (same-zone traffic is not translated)
